The future looks bright for womenswear designer James Lakeland. Having started his own label just fitteen years ago, you'll now find his collections stocked in Harrods, Fenwick’s and House of Fraser, with over 15 concessions, key independents throughout the UK. As well as four stand alone stores, the latest of which is on Marylebone High. Street
James started out gaining experience at his father's Italian manufacturing business specialised in luxury suede, leather mens and womenswear. Learning the importance of quality, great design, interesting details and personal service. This 'grass roots' experience and love of fashion, encouraged James to start laying down plans for his very own womenswear collection.
In 1995 he moved to the UK and launched his first capsule knitwear label. Streamlined skirts, polonecks, versatile drawstring trousers and sexy fitted dresses. They took shape in luxurious cashmere and wool blends - all in rich tonal shades. The look was effortless elegance, providing great wardrobe basics and needless to say making James an instant hit with customers and buyers alike.
Run very much as a family business, James worked closely with his mother Lys and sister Philippa to develop the collection, introducing tailoring, eveningwear and accessories. The end result? A comprehensive collection which buyers nationwide loved and an eager celebrities following.
The entire collection is manufactured in Italy with the finest fabrics, textures and innovative fabrics.
